Holi fun with kids

It’s always fun to spend time with kids during festivals and do something interesting that kids like most. Holi is a festival that kids enjoy more than elders. Holi memories from childhood are the memories that kids cherish for their lifetime.

There are many activities that you can do with your kids to make this festival a memorable one. Try these Holi activities with your kids to enjoy this wonderful festival of colours:

Make organic colours at home

During Holi, we always worry about the Holi colours. The majority of colours available in the market have harsh chemicals that can affect our loved one’s skin and hair. Using organic colour is an alternative that works best for kids’ soft skin and hair. Kids can enjoy playing with colours without worrying about the side effects of chemical-based colours. With our kids, we can try making organic colours at home, which are eco-friendly. Don’t you think it’s awesome? So, let’s make colour together at home to make this Holi more memorable.

Red – For a dry dark red colour, take a few dry Hibiscus flowers, and blend them with gram flour to make a fine powder. For wet colour boil pomegranate peel into the water until it becomes red.

Yellow- Mix turmeric powder with gram flour to make a vibrant yellow colour. Turmeric has an amazing benefit, and it is the best ingredient for making herbal Holi colours.

Green – Green color should be easily made from henna powder or any green leafy vegetable such as spinach. Simply add gram flour with henna powder to make a natural green colour. When the water is added with this dry colour it will leave red-orange colour on skin.

Pink- Beetroots are the best to make your favorite pink color. You just need to grind the beetroot, squeeze the water out of it, and mix with gram flour to make a fine powder.

Blue: Take a few dry blue hibiscus, jacaranda, or indigo flowers and grind them with gram flour/corn flour to make a fine powder to get a nice hue of blue.

Orange: we need Flame of the Forest flower (Palash, Tesu flower) to make the bright orange colours. These dry flowers are easily available in the market, grind these flowers with gram flour to make a fine powder.

Purple: grind red carrots and squeeze the water out of them. Add gram flour/corn flour to make the fine powder to get the purple colour.
